This page holds the results of a variety of Racket Sports Tournaments, excluding the ESC Open, European Team Championships, Mayhem/Octoberfest and the McLauchlan Trophy which have their own pages. Sadly, the premier Squash league is now defunct, but Scotland’s representatives Alba Storm’s 2023 league results can be seen here
2025 World Junior Championships, Egypt
Robyn Mcalpine was the Club’s representative in the Ladies Draw, and more than justified her 17/32 seeding to reach the last 16. Click here to see Robyn’s results in the draw, or here to see the full draw
Sammy Ralston – international Padel star
Sammy starred for Scotland in the first Four Nations championship organised by UK Padel, held at the Slazenger Padel Club’s charcoal courts in Leeds. Sammy, who gained entry to the team at the last moment, nevertheless was chosen to play in the shoot-out against England. Sammy’s Mum Ashley, well known to all areas of Edinburgh Sports Club, proudly describes his racket sports timeline; “Sammy started playing tennis at age 5 and in tournaments from age 6. He played for Scotland aged 10.

He then had some injuries and gave up tennis and took up squash at age 17 and was doing well and on the cusp of being involved with training with the Scotland team, when Covid hit and shut down his squash completely, plus heading to University of Strathclyde as well so no where to train. He gave up squash and started to play Padel about 2 years ago, but very off and on. There is no official set up and most of the tournaments are down South, so his ranking is quite low. But he was invited to the Scotland Padel Tennis trials a month ago and performed so well in the trials he was selected for the Men’s Open Team”. The website with (some of) the tournament details is available here. Oh – and his Mother unselfishly failed to mention that she starred in the O50 event, the Scottish side coming second overall.

2023 WSF Men’s World Team Championship
Tuaranga in New Zealand was the host for this event, held from 11th-17th November. ESC’s Rory Stewart was an ever-present player in the event, with an impressive record, winning four, losing one to former world no 4 Simon Rosner, with one match not played. Click here to see Rory’s record. Scotland finished in eighth position out of twenty-four entrants.

2023 British Junior Closed Championships
Thomas Myers showed that he truly is ‘one to watch’ by becoming the first Scottish male player to win any age group at the BJC’s since Peter Nicol in 1992. Thomas won the U13 as No 1 seed without dropping a game. Final day report here. Read more about Thomas here, and we’ve added a short slideshow which he richly deserves.

2023 World Junior Championships, Melbourne
These were held from 18th to 29th July. Funding to send Scottish teams to this event was required beyond that available to Scottish Squash. A fund raising event was held at ESC on Friday 12th May, when around £12,000 was raised towards the required total of £26,000, helping to ensure that the team of eight junior players from across Scotland (five girls and three boys) and two coaches, were at the Championships. ESC player Rory Richmond achieved 44th place in the Men’s Draw. For a report and photographs click here.
2023 PSA World Championships
Held this year in Chicago from May 3rd to 11th, ESC players were present in both Men’s and Women’s competitions. Rory Stewart made it through to the second round, along with Greg Lobban (who beat the 14th seed en route), while Georgia Adderley flew the flag for Scotland in reaching the second round. Click here for more information.
It’s worth noting that four of this year’s semi-finalists have played at ESC in the past few years – Hania El Hammamay, Joelle King, Karim Abdul Gawad and Mohamad ElShorbagy.
2023 Masters Internationals
No fewer that eleven ESC players featured in the various events, from Over 35 to Over 75. A report and photographs will be available in due course, but in the meantime a short photo gallery is available.
Note – navigation issues. If you are using a Microsoft PC, a recent glitch means that the only means of exiting the galleries is by pressing ‘ESC’ — Use the left and right arrow keys to move back and forward through the gallery

2023 Scottish Masters National Championships
Aberdeen Squash and Racketball Club were the hosts of the 2023 edition of this event, held from March 3rd to March 5th. ESC had an extraordinarily successful tournament, providing both finalists in the Over 35 and Over 50 competitions, the winner of the Over 55 and Runner-Up in the Over 45 events. We also had losing semi-finalists in the Over 45 and Over 70 events. The photo below shows the six finalists – just Colin Cruickshank and Barry Masson missing the photocall. Many thanks to Adrian and Simon for the photo and reports, and the SportyHQ draws are included in the gallery.
